Team Douvris at the Studios Unis tournament
This past weekend Team Douvris members travelled to Quebec City to measure themselves up against mostly French-speaking competition. Nous avons fait bonne figure.
Yes, we did well: We had fun and worked on our linguistic skills, too. Karate isn’t just about kicking and punching, you know. We’re all working very hard to be the best we can be, in every way.
We had a good day on the karate front. In junior underbelt divisions Catherine Robson took second place in traditional kata while Payton Rudder won gold in point sparring.
Our junior black belts also made us proud. Bronwyn Foote placed third in point sparring, as did Nico Campagna. Malik Thomas got fourth place in traditional weapons, third place in point sparring and second place in traditional kata. Sébastien Bélanger won silver in continuous sparring and gold in point sparring, while Niko Couture got third place in point sparring, gold in traditional kata, and also won the 13-and-under kata grand championship.
Our adult black belts had a fine day as well. Martina Couture got third in point sparring, Brigitte Pellerin won gold in traditional kata and point sparring, while Sensei Cody Diesbourg won gold in point sparring,
A big thank you to Samuel Gagnon and the Studios Unis team for a fantastic tournament!
